Physical Education (PE)

At De Havilland Primary School, we recognise the important role of P.E. in promoting long term, healthy lifestyles. Our P.E. curriculum is to provide all children with high quality P.E. and sport provision. We inspire our pupils through fun and engaging P.E. lessons that are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all. Coverage of skills and knowledge are centred on The National Curriculum, with support from ipep and Decorum resources. The curriculum is then tailored and enhanced to meet the needs of our learners. Evidence of this subject can be found by speaking to our wonderful children, seeing them in action, internal data and of course our very crowded trophy cabinet!

We want our pupils to appreciate the benefits of a healthy and physically active lifestyle and showcase abilities not always visible in a classroom setting. Through our teaching of P.E., we provide opportunities for pupils to develop not only physical skills, but values and transferrable life skills such as fairness and respect, as well as providing them with opportunities to take part in competitive sport. Our children will know that physical education could lead to careers in competitive sport, leisure & tourism, sports science, leadership and coaching, journalism and reporting.
