Reception

We hope you all had a fun half term and we are excited to get stuck in to our new learning over the following weeks. Our new topic is ‘Build It Up’ where we will explore different materials, structures and the children will also have the opportunity to work as a team to build their very own wall with the help of our very skilled Mr Briggs!

Our new Talk for Writing story is ‘Baby Mouse’, the children will follow the familiar structure of orally reciting the story with fun actions, create story maps and finally will create their own stories using a similar story structure.

This half term we have launched ‘Super Six’ where we read a high quality story all week to the children to embed reading skills and promote the love for reading. Please find recording of these stories lovingly read by members of the early years team for your enjoyment at home and try out the recommended activities sent home each week.

If you have any queries, please feel free to come and see a member of the Reception team at the end of the day and we will do our very best to help. Alternatively, feel free to email any queries to: reception@dehavilland.herts.sch.uk
