The NELI project

A group of our Reception children have been participating in an exciting, new initiative to help develop their oracy skills (Communication and Language).

The children take part in a group activity four times throughout the week, where they focus on new language. They have really enjoyed the sessions and have been able to showcase their fantastic listening and talking skills. The NELI mascot is a hand puppet called Ted, who likes to play listening games with them. He brings the sessions to life helps develop their story telling skills. Their favourite session so far has been ‘Spin the Wheel’ where the children got to see which character ate the Gingerbread Man. The wheel helps change elements of a well-known story so that the children can begin to in vent their own.
