Design and Technology

Design and Technology at De Havilland Primary School develops children’s skills and knowledge in design, structures, mechanisms, electrical control and a range of materials, including food. It encourages children's creativity and encourages them to think about how to problem solve and resolve important issues. It is important that our children understand that Design and Technology can lead to a great many career choices including fashion designer, tailor, product designer, architect, software engineer, civil engineer, carpenter and chef. Coverage of skills and knowledge are centred on The National Curriculum, Cornerstones (Curriculum 22) and enhanced for our children by De Havilland Primary School Academy through outside companies, for example the Young Peoples Puppet Company. Evidence of this subject can be found by speaking to our wonderful children, looking in their project learning books and seeing school and classroom displays.
